Lyric Annotation:
From the lyrics we get a very R&B/Pop feel, which is the genre that we was going for. We chose this genre as we thought it was very popular for our target audience of 16-24 males and females.

Our song choice:
Our song choice is No Diggity by Chet Faker as we like the R&B/Pop vibe it has, and our ideas of going to film in London really fits with the meaning behind the song. No Diggity is a vey R&B based track, which was what we was looking for, with a mix of Pop within it too.
Using this song allows us to use the exact costumes and props we want as they really compliment each other and go well together. The song is quite slow but upbeat and Jack wearing a stylish outfit fits well with the atmosphere.

Theorist: Vernallis
Ariana Grande - Into You
Vernallis theory includes an unconventional order of shots, meaning they shift more freely and have no set order. Ariana Grande's music video includes this as all her shots are very random and mostly in different locations meaning there's no set order to them. Ariana's music video also uses discontinuity as the video draws us away from the narrative. Her video is very interesting and includes a vary of different locations, distracting us from the narrative behind the video and drawing us into concentrating on what the video actually consist of. The time, space and characters within this music video all appear incompletely, as stated in Vernallis' theory.
Furthermore, Vernallis' theory also includes that sometimes all elements (colour, editing, etc...) are equal, however sometimes one is dominant and the others are subordinate. In Ariana's video I think that everything is equal and the colour and editing are both very dominant and both change a lot throughout the video.
However, her theory also includes that the music video have discontinuity as pop videos normally draw us away from the narrative. In my opinion, I don't think Ariana's video is like this, her video is very easy to understand and relates to the narrative that the lyrics are saying. Therefore, I don't think the video takes over the narrative.

Director Profile
Director: Yoann Lemoine
Some of the characteristics of his music videos include saturated colours to make the video bright and eye-catching for the audience. Using saturated colours will also help to engage the audience to pay more attention to the video, than if the colours were dull and dark. As Lemoine mainly works with female artists such as, Lana del Ray, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, using bright and vivid colours will make the video look more girly and feminine as vibrant colours are normally associated with females. He also uses a melancholic feel to maybe allow the audience to feel more of a connection to the slightly sad story line.
Some music videos that Yoann Lemoine has directed:
I like these music videos because the story line is easy to follow as well as easy to connect with. I especially enjoy the costume changes throughout the video as it makes the video more interesting to watch and intrigued me more, compared to if the artist was wearing the same costume as it would get a bit boring.
